The Importance of Google Business for Your Company

A Google Business Profile (GBP), previously known as Google My Business, is a key component of any modern marketing strategy. It enables businesses to appear prominently in Google Search and Google Maps, increasing visibility and local reach. Even better, creating and maintaining a Google Business Profile is entirely free.

What Is Google Business?

A Google Business Profile allows you to list your business location on Google Maps and in local search results.

You can display important information about your business, including opening hours, contact details, or a link to your website. Recently, Google also introduced a feature that allows you to publish a link to articles or upcoming events.

Listing your business on Google Business is free and should be considered essential for all businesses. If your company operates online and does not have a physical store, you should still consider having a Google Business Profile page.

Improve your business’s local Google search visibility.
Creating a Google Business Profile is one of the simplest and most effective ways for your business to be found online. More and more search queries are becoming geographically specific, and Google’s algorithms have been developed to take user intent into account.

You may have searched on Google at some point for something like “clothing store near me.” If so, you probably noticed that Google returned a list of three locations you can visit based on your current location. The three businesses that appeared as a result of your search query have a Google Business Profile page and are one step closer to attracting you as a customer.

If those clothing stores did not have a Google Business Profile page, they would not have appeared. Think about this in the context of your own business, regardless of the product or service you offer. How can local searches benefit your business, and what might you be missing without one?

As Google makes regular changes to its algorithms, if you want to improve your Local SEO and appear in local search results, you need to have a Google Business Profile listing and optimize it on a regular basis.

Optimized Description

Dedicate time to writing a strong description to include in your listing, and try to make it as appealing as possible to local audiences. The description serves as an overview of what your business does, and this is where you can incorporate keywords related to your services.

A Google Business description can be up to 750 characters long, but it’s worth ensuring that the most relevant information appears within the first few sentences.

Add posts to your Google Business Profile

You can write and publish posts on your Google Business Profile to generate more interest. Your content will appear in Google Search and Google Maps results.

To add a post, simply go to your Google Business Profile (GBP) and create a new post. You can upload an image, write up to 300 words of text, or create an event title that includes the start and end dates.

You also have the option to add a call-to-action button, with choices such as “Learn more,” “Book,” “Sign up,” “Buy,” and “Get offer.”
